District heating is not (always) worth it
Governments can achieve their energy policy objectives more cheaply with renovated individual heating systems than with local and district heating networks.
District heating is generally associated with higher heating costs for consumers, as well. These are the results of a recent study which compares both forms of residential heating in Germany. Therefore, a general political preference for heating networks is unjustified.
