Delivering real benefits for consumers with liquid fuel heating

Liquid energy sources offer many advantages for heating. They are easy to transport, can be stored on site, and provide an economical way to supply heat — particularly in areas that are not connected to energy networks. Storing oil in tanks is therefore an ideal solution for many homes. This is why the energy transition should include liquid fuels, working alongside other renewable energy sources, to deliver practical and sustainable heating solutions.

Limiting the use of heating oil too quickly would disproportionately affect households in off-grid areas and low-income families, who currently have few affordable alternatives. Progress towards higher energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions must be pursued in a fair and socially balanced way, with targeted incentives that recognise the ongoing challenge of energy poverty.
